Mantra is chanted by devotees to overcome fears, meditate, and attract good energy around them. It is used as a daily practice and offers the energy to gain positivity in life. Gayatri Mantra is the most ancient and powerful mantra in the Hindu tradition. It purifies the mind and body and enlightens the soul.
Gayatri is the Veda-Mata or the mother of the four Vedas. It is the truth of this universe. Also, Goddess Gayatri is believed to eliminate the darkness.
Gayatri Mantra consists of 24 syllables and is chanted regularly during any spiritual practice. This Vedic mantra is meant for the worship of the Sun God. The word Gayatri refers to “radiating”. According to ancient history, this mantra was first uttered by Lord Brahma, who created the universe.
Here is the Gayatri Mantra:
Om Bhur Bhuvah Svah
Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi
Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat
First part: Om Bhur Bhuvah Svah means “Mahavyahriti”. It represents the earth, heaven, and the atmosphere. The word “Om” is a mantra in itself and is adopted by people of different religions for meditation purposes as it is believed to be the sound of creation.
Second part: Tat Savitur Varenyam is a combination of “Savitur” which refers to the sun god, and “Varenyam” which means “desirable.” This phrase is used to praise the divine light of the sun to guide the devotee towards the path of success.
Third part: Bhargo Devasya Dheemahi, Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat is used to awaken the mind. Bhargo ”signifies“ shining and Dheemahi alludes to “we meditate”. Hence it is a powerful phrase to focus the mind.
Finally, Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat is a prayer for the divine to guide the person towards wisdom.
So, these were some of the Gayatri Mantra benefits that everyone should know to practice daily and strengthen their mind and body.
According to the Vedas, time is divided into three categories: satva, rajas, and tamas. It is believed that between 4 am and 8 am & 4 pm and 8 pm is the Satva period which is the Best Time to Chant Gayatri Mantra as per the Vedas.
